Crown of Righteousness? For me?

Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness

Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness

(2Ti 4:7)
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

(2Ti 4:8)
Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Paul was at the end of his life on earth.  And in his lifetime he had not always done the right thing, Paul even went as far as to kill Christians and stand by and watch them suffer un-thinkable deaths.

But Paul turned it around that day on the road to Damascus, he turned around and never looked back. And even with all that he had done, there still waits for him a crown of righteousness that will be given to him by none other than Jesus Christ Himself.

Believe me when I tell you that you too will receive that same crown of righteous when you finish the race.

When you know Jesus, when you accept Jesus, when you live for Jesus, there will be a crown waiting for you, and Jesus will place it on you and say, well done good and faithful servant.

Jesus wore the crown of thorns so that you could wear the crown of righteousness.
