Don’t want; Know what you have

Don’t want; know what you have.

In Psalms 23:1-6 David sums up how a good shepherd takes care of all our needs.

I found this awesome breakdown of it while reading my daily devotional. I added the verse references so we could see exactly where they are.

David say’s I shall not want, because the Lord provides….

“The Lord is my Shepherd…

I shall not want… The Lord provides Rest– for He maketh me to lie down in green pastures Psalms 23:2

I shall not want… The Lord provides Peace – for He leadeth me beside the still waters Psalms 23:2-b

I shall not want… The Lord provides Restoration – for He restoreth my soul Psalms 23:3

I shall not want… The Lord provides Guidance – for He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Psalms 23:3-b

I shall not want… The Lord provides Courage – for though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil Psalms 23:4

I shall not want… The Lord provides Companionship – for Thou art with me Psalms 23:4-b

I shall not want… The Lord provides Comfort – for Thy rod and Thy staff comfort me Psalms 23:4-c

I shall not want… The Lord provides Sustenance – Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies Psalms 23:5

I shall not want… The Lord provides Blessing – Thou anointest my head with oil Psalms 23:5-b

I shall not want… The Lord provides Fulness – My cup runneth over Psalms 23:5-c

I shall not want… The Lord provides Abundant Life – goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life Psalms 23:6

I shall not want… The Lord provides Eternal Security – I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever Psalms 23:6-b

The Lord is our Shepherd and He provides, Amen? But look, we must be following our shepherd to receive the protection. We need to not only follow our Shepherd but we need to let Him carry us as well. He is our strength and our provider. Look at Psalms 28:8-9

Psalms 28:8 The LORD is their strength, And He is a saving defense to His anointed.

Psalms 28:9 Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; Be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.

Be their Shepherd also, and carry them for a while….. No, carry them FOREVER. We are so blessed when we are in the will of the Lord. We don’t have to want, because we already have!

Lord I pray that I would live this Psalm and make it real in my life. I pray that today I would start to accept and know that this is for me and that because I walk in your will, You are there blessing and providing every step of the way. Thank you Lord for your promise, your love and for your Son; who you sent to bridge the gap, to cover the sin that stood between us. Thank you Lord Jesus, thank You.
