Faith, a Training Ground for Heaven.

Training for Heaven

1Pe 1:9

So Peter in verses 5-6 is talking to us about a faith that leads to salvation, but not just “a salvation” but a deeper faith. Not a faith that get’s you saved, but a faith that gets you closer. A faith that gets you close enough to God that you can reach out and touch Him. A faith strong enough that we can rejoice even when going through trials. Peter says, so that the proof or testing of your faith, like gold in a fire that does not perish, will result in praise and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Then Peter say’s this;

1 Peter 1:8-9 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

I love this because Peter is referring to;

John 20:29 Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

I just realized that Jesus was asking Thomas a question, and maybe a little rebuke for his disbelief. But it’s what Jesus says next that drives what Peter is saying home. “Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed”.

It’s all about faith isn’t it? It’s all about trust.

So where are you in your faith? Do you love Him, even though you do not see Him? Is your faith just enough to get you saved, or is your faith an on going relationship with God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit guiding your every move?

That’s what I believe Peter is talking about here. How deep and strong is your faith? How close is your faith bringing you to Jesus?  You know we don’t have to wait until we get to Heaven to have that relationship; we can have it today. And God want’s to have that relationship today. I think of it as Heaven training. Just like an astronaut wouldn’t venture into space without all the training beforehand; we shouldn’t venture into Heaven without some training as well.
