I witness by Faith

The Bible series came out on tv and was a tremendous success, it had millions of viewers and even had other production companies scrambling to do something similar. This prompted the question; are people watching this because it was exciting and well written or because they believe it to be true?

When I talk with people that think the Bible is a book of fables and not true I can’t help but think of some of the characters and their history. I usually bring up the apostle Paul and his conversation on the road to Damascus. And how he faithfully spread the Gospel of Christ until he was beheaded for the Gospel. But what about Stephen, stoned to death, James, beheaded, Philip who was scourged and then crucified. What about James the brother of Jesus beaten and stoned to death at the age of 94, or Matthias, Andrew, Mark, Jude, Bartholomew, or doubting Thomas? Thomas was thrust through with a sword while preaching Christ! What about Luke, Simon, John and Barnabas, all martyred for the sake of Christ. All of them willing to give their lives, not for a fable or a nice story but for Jesus Christ who they knew and loved. Jesus who they witnessed risen from the dead!

Peter says in 2 Peter 1:16 For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

Eyewitnesses! Peter was crucified upside down because of his love for Christ. My point is this. If this whole thing is a big hoax on the world; would Thomas had continued preaching the Gospel of Christ until pierced with a sword? Would Paul have preached Christ to his execution? Would Peter have faithfully shared Christ to his death? Would you have given your life for a story? No! These guys were eyewitnesses! Most of them walked with Jesus before His crucifixion, and then they saw Him and talked with Him after His crucifixion.

If you’re on the fence, it’s time to get off. Take a minute right now and pray for God to reveal the truth to you. Begin to seek after the truth, read your Bible, go to a bible study, ask questions and let the Holy Spirit work in your life. These guys were eyewitnesses and they faithfully spread the good news, but there is a blessing to be found in not being an eyewitness and still believing by faith.  In John 20:29 Jesus says to Thomas, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

God is there and calling, answer the call and be an I witness by faith!
