Let There Be Light!

god_is_lightLet There Be Light, or is it Let There Be Love?

On the first day….

Gen 1:3  Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Gen 1:4  God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

On the Forth day….

Gen 1:14  Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;

Gen 1:15  and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.

Gen 1:16  God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

As you can see there are two different day’s that God created light. On the first day God created light, saw that it was good and separated the light from darkness. On the Forth day  God created lights to shine on and light the earth and to separate day from night.

I believe the first light is the light we see throughout the bible as the revelation of Gods Love. Let’s take a look and I’ll try and explain why.

Look at what John says in Joh_1:1-5

(Joh 1:1)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

(Joh 1:2)
He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God.

(Joh 1:3)
All things came into being through Him (Jesus), and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

(Joh 1:4)
In Him (Jesus) was life, and the life was the Light (Gods revelation of love) of men.

(Joh 1:5)
The Light (Revelation of Gods Love) shines in the darkness (world), and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Did you notice what I did there? I replaced Light with the revelation of Gods love, and darkness with the world. Now go back to Gen 1:3 and do the same thing.

Gen 1:3  Then God said, “Let there be light”; (the revelation of Gods love) and there was light (the revelation of Gods love).

Now one more thing, lets look at 1Jn_1:5

1Jn 1:5  This is the message we have heard from Him (Jesus) and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

So right there John is say ing that God is metaphorically Light
Note that God is Light.

1Jn 4:8  The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Here John says that God is literally Love and in both verses they mean the same thing.

So metaphorically God is Light, and at the same time is literally Love. And there is more….. Look at 1Jn 1:6

1Jn 1:6  If we say that we have fellowship with Him (Jesus, Love) and yet walk in the darkness (The World) , we lie and do not practice the truth;

Remember back in Gen_1:4?

Gen 1:4  God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

This is awesome! Here we see God separate the “light” from the “dark” and in Gen 1:16 we see God separate “day” from “night”

So even from the beginning we had two paths we could take. We could walk in the “Light” which is the Revelation of Gods Love, or we could walk in the “Darkness” which is the world.

Ok, so here is where it gets really cool!
In the beginning God said let there be light and the only place that light could have come from was God Himself. And in the end, or the New beginning, God Lights the world with His Son Jesus Christ and there is no need for the sun or the moon.

So John says that Jesus was with God in the beginning and that He (Jesus) was the “Light” of men. And then John tells us this in Revelations 21:23

Rev 21:23  And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Wow, now that’s cool!

Isa 24:23 says this; “Then the moon will be abashed and the sun ashamed, For the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, And His glory will be before His elders.”

Amen! It’s awesome to know that the first thing God did was pour His Love out over us. His love never ends and the light never quits shinning..

I know there is so much more to this and I would encourage everyone to take the time and study this. You will be blessed I can promise you that..
