Lift up or Use?

Lift up the name of the LordWhat makes us a Christian, a follower of Christ?
When did you realize you were a Christian and how did you get to that point? Was it because someone told you about Christ? Did you pick up a bible and read about Him?

The reason I ask this question is because I believe so many people say they are Christian, but they really have know idea who Christ is, nor would they care to learn. It seems that there must be so many Christians out there that want to be saved, but for selfish reasons; not because they want nothing more than to spend eternity with Christ, but because there might be a Hell and they don’t want to spend it there.

Augustine of Hippo said this
“In the Old Testament the New is concealed.
In the New Testament the Old is revealed.”

“in the New Testament the Old is revealed.” Jesus Christ is revealed in the New Testament. And there is much to learn about Him.

Christians, take a look at what it means to be a Christian, a follower of Christ. Yes, a Christian is a Follower of Christ. That means we do what Jesus would do, we live our lives through Him, wanting to know Him more and more everyday. We don’t get there by having other people tell us about Him, we get there by being in prayer and opening our bibles and having Him revealed to us through the scriptures. This is the will of the Lord!

The reason I write this is because I know so many people that are Christians that are living there lives quite the opposite of how Jesus would have them live. There is so much more to being a Christian than saying your a Christian if someone happens to ask.

(Php 2:9)
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

(Php 2:10)
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

(Php 2:11)
and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

God has highly exalted Him. Do you lift up the name of the Lord or use the name of the Lord? I know that sounds harsh, trust me I’ve been guilty of using the name of the Lord. But the question still needs to be asked.

Lord I pray that your Name be lifted High, that I would want to know you more, that I would want nother more than to dig into your word and know you Lord. Lord let me live my life to glorify you! In your Holy Name Jesus Christ, Amen..
