Is faith a verb or a noun?

What is faith; and is it a Verb or a Noun?

1 Peter 1:7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Peter tells us that faith is more precious than gold and that it should result in praise, glory and honor to God.

When I saw the word result it made me begin to think, is faith a “verb” or a “noun”? In order for your faith to “result” in something it had to move from where it started.

Ok so that sill doesn’t tell me what faith is. So here it is, straight out of the Webster dictionary.

BASIC FAITH

1. Belief; the assent of the mind to the truth of what is declared by another, resting on his authority and veracity, without other evidence; the judgment that what another states or testifies is the truth. I have strong faith or no faith in the testimony of a witness, or in what a historian narrates.

SAVING FAITH

4. Evangelical, justifying, or saving faith, is the assent of the mind to the truth of divine revelation, on the authority of God’s testimony, accompanied with a cordial assent of the will or approbation of the heart; an entire confidence or trust in God’s character and declarations, and in the character and doctrines of Christ, with an unreserved surrender of the will to his guidance, and dependence on his merits for salvation. In other words, that firm belief of God’s testimony, and of the truth of the gospel, which influences the will, and leads to an entire reliance on Christ for salvation.

Faith in Jesus as Lord and Saviour isn’t Just saying “I believe Jesus died for my sins”. It goes so much deeper than that. Look at #4 in part; faith is an entire confidence or trust in God’s character and declarations, and in the character and doctrines of Christ, with an unreserved surrender of the will to his guidance, and dependence on his merits for salvation.

You see in order to have your “faith” bring praise, glory and honor to God, your “faith” has to be a full surrender of will to His guidance. It has to be a complete trust in His declarations, character and doctrines. Faith is not Playing by your rules, it’s playing by God’s rules and knowing that God is supreme and Holy. Faith is not saying you believe in Jesus, even the demons believe and tremble.

ANSWER WHAT IS FAITH; Faith is an assent, an upward action towards complete surrender in Christ to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled reserved for us in Heaven that will never fade away.

ANSWER IS FAITH A VERB OR NOUN; Faith is a “VERB”
